Event summary

Feeling unsafe does not always mean being in physical danger.

It can come from pressure at work, conflict or instability in a relationship, uncertainty about money, family or the future, distressing news, or simply feeling like too much is happening at once.

When our sense of safety is shaken, it can affect how we think, sleep, react and relate to other people. We may feel more on edge, become more irritable or withdrawn, or find it harder to switch off.

In this workshop, we’ll explore why that happens, how our minds and bodies respond when we feel under threat, and practical ways to feel more grounded and regain a sense of steadiness.

Dr. Eda Lou Ochangco will open with a keynote, followed by a workshop led by Denise Ang.

It’s one hour, on Zoom. You can keep your camera off, and you won’t be asked to share anything personal.

It’s free, and there’s no obligation to book a session with New Ground.

Who it’s for

Anyone who has been feeling more on edge, overwhelmed or unsettled than usual.

Maybe work has become difficult. Maybe a relationship is taking a toll. Maybe uncertainty about money, family or the future is weighing on you. Or maybe the wider world has simply felt harder to make sense of lately.

You don’t need to know exactly why you feel this way, and you don’t need any background in psychology to join.

This is an educational group workshop, not therapy or a crisis service. There will be no individual assessment, diagnosis or treatment. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support, please contact emergency or crisis services.
